Number of Stars in the Sky
What is the number of stars in the night sky? The number of observable stars in the night sky that can be counted with the naked eye reach to about 8,000 (4,000 observable in either hemisphere). However, the number of stars in the bible compares their quantity to that of the number grains of sand on the beaches. How could ancient mankind have known that the numbers of stars are uncountable comparable to the grains of sand on the beach’s, unless it was divinely inspired?
Ancient Man
Looking up in the night sky there is quite a conglomeration of countable stars, but it pales in comparison to grabbing a handful of seemingly innumerable grains of beach sand. How did ancient man know that there where a comparable number of stars to grains of sand.
It is easily observable that the number of grains on sand on a beach are practically uncountable to any one person, but the number of observably stars in the nights sky reach to about 8000 which are relatively easy to count.
It was not until the telescope was invented that the discovery of other stars could be made or observed, and could be compared to grains of sand on all the beach’s of the world, so how did ancient man know about this?
100:1 Ratio
Modern observations currently show that the observable universe is estimated at holding approx. 7.5 billion trillion stars (rounding up for error would give us about 10 x 10^22). When compared to the number of grains of sand on every beach, estimated to be in the ballpark of 10 x 10^20(rounding up for errors), we can come to a ratio of about 100 stars for every 1 grain of sand.
