Table of Contents
The Last Kingdom of Man – Timeline
The Last kingdom of humanity, or the last kingdom in which humans are left to rule themselves at the time of the apocalypse, is prophecies about with various details in the Bible. We find one of the primary overall descriptions laid out in the book of Daniel with various information in other books of the prophets.
Daniel lays out the timeline beginning in his day, in which the human kingdoms will rule and with each of their fall, another will take their place. His prophecies list each of these kingdoms as the primary world power in reference to the Covenant age (Jewish Age) upon the earth.
1. Kingdom 1 – Babylon the Great – Began 612 B.C.E
The first was like a lion, and it had the wings of an eagle. I watched until its wings were torn off and it was lifted from the ground so that it stood on two feet like a human being, and the mind of a human was given to it.
– Daniel 7.4 (NIV)
2. Kingdom 2 – The Medo-Persian Empire – Began 538 B.C.E
And there before me was a second beast, which looked like a bear. It was raised up on one of its sides, and it had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. It was told, ‘Get up and eat your fill of flesh!’
– Daniel 7. 5 (NIV)
3. Kingdom 3 – Grecian Empire – Began 330 B.C.E
After that, I looked, and there before me was another beast, one that looked like a leopard. And on its back it had four wings like those of a bird. This beast had four heads, and it was given authority to rule.
– Daniel 7. 6 (NIV)
4. Kingdom 4 – Roman Empire – Began 63 B.C.E
After that, in my vision at night I looked, and there before me was a fourth beast—terrifying and frightening and very powerful. It had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns
– Daniel 7. 7 (NIV)
5. Final Kingdom – Revised ‘Roman’ Empire – Future Date
While I was thinking about the horns, there before me was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully
– Daniel 7. 8 (NIV)
The little horn is the final leader of the remaining world power that will rise in some form from the original Roman Empire. This is the anti-Christ; in Daniel 7.11-14 we see it speaks blasphemies until the beast is thrown into the lake of fire and Jesus returns in the clouds of heaven.
Conditions in the Last Days – Additional Apocalyptic and End Time Prophecy Lists
The bible predicts many various conditions of the world that will exist in the last days.
Quick Travel & Information
Humanity will have the means to travel quickly in the world and have great knowledge- predicting a highly technical age.
– Daniel 12. 4 (NKJV)
Gospel to all Nations
The gospel will reach the entire world is told to occur in Matthew.
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
– Matthew 24. 14
World NEWS or Instant Information
Instant Live Global News or Information is predicted in Revelation. When the prophets are killed the entire world is able to watch what is happening to them in real time. Another part of the end time prophecy list.
7 Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them and overpower and kill them. 8 Their bodies will lie in the public square of the great city—which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt—where also their Lord was crucified. 9 For three and a half days some from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. 10 The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.
– Revelation 11. 7 – 10
Temple in Jerusalem is Rebuilt
Jesus tells us that the anti-Christ will self-proclaim to be god, which will be the abomination that causes desolation. In order for this to occur, this must mean that the temple will be rebuilt at some future event before the end of the world.
15 “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
– Matthew 24. 15
Israel Will be a Nation
This recently occurred in in 1949 A.D. The Jewish people returned to Israel, and it was reestablished as a nation. This being a miracle in itself as very few other known ancient people groups have ever been completely destroyed and scattered as a nation, to come back together and reestablish itself.
In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the surviving remnant of his people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Cush,[b] from Elam, from Babylonia, from Hamath and from the islands of the Mediterranean
– Isaiah 11. 11
One world Government, Economy and Religion
In the end times there will be an establishment of one world government, economy and religious system. Daniel 7 reveals the last kingdom that will rule the world and establish a one government system. Revelation teaches that unless you get the mark of the beast you will not be able to buy sell or trade therefore setting up the one world economy. Last you will see the description of the whore of Babylon who leads the worlds religion system in Revelation chapter 17.
10 Kings or World Rulers – Rise of the Anti-Christ
We see the interpretation of this vision of Daniel in verse 23-25. We can see that the fourth beast, or fourth world kingdom will devour the entire world, or will eventually rule the entire world by force. There will be 10 horns or 10 rules that control this last world empire. Then one ruler who is the anti-Christ will begin his power by overtaking 3 of the other horns. The anti-Christ will heavily pursue and oppress God’s people.
23. The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing it. 24. The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom. After them another king will arise, different from the earlier ones; he will subdue three kings. 25. He will speak against the Most High and oppress his holy people and try to change the set times and the laws. The holy people will be delivered into his hands for a time, times and half a time
– Daniel 7. 23 – 25 (NIV)
Description of the Anti-Christ
There is a chapter in Zechariah that details and contrasts the two Shepards and contains a prophecy about Jesus. In it we are given a description of the worthless shepard, often regarded as the description of the anti-Christ:
5 Then the Lord said to me, “Take again the equipment of a foolish shepherd. 16 For I am going to raise up a shepherd over the land who will not care for the lost, or seek the young, or heal the injured, or feed the healthy, but will eat the meat of the choice sheep, tearing off their hooves. 17 “Woe to the worthless shepherd, who deserts the flock! May the sword strike his arm and his right eye! May his arm be completely withered, his right eye totally blinded!”
– Zechariah 11.15-17 (NIV)
One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast.
– Revelation 13.3 (NIV)
Here we can see the physical description of the anti-Christ or worthless Shepard, his right arm will be severely injured or withered and his right eye will be damaged and blinded. This injury will cause many people to believe in his supernatural abilities. He will be a careless person not only that hates God and seeks to kill his people but will not care about the people he is a leader over. He will not care about their health or needs.
The Great Tribulation – The Apocalypse

The end of world apocalypse or current age as we know it will face a terrible tribulation for all of humanity. The last empire of human government systems will engulf the entire world. There will be unrest for all people, and persecution for all of Gods people. Then the anti-Christ will appear and take control of the world by the power of the Devil. Once the anit-Christ appears, there will be seven years of God’s wrath poured out over the world. God wrath will end when the Lord Jesus returns to destroy the anti-Christ and establish a millennium of peace and restoration in the world.
4 (Jesus Disciples asked) “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled?” 5 Jesus said to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 6 Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many. 7 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 8 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
10 the gospel must first be preached to all nations. 12 “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. 13 Everyone will hate you because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 “When you see ‘the abomination that causes desolation’ standing where it does not belong—let the reader understand—then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 15
19 because those will be days of distress unequaled from the beginning, when God created the world, until now—and never to be equaled again. 20 “If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them. 22 false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
“‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; 25 the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. 26 “At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27 And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.
– Mark 13. 4 – 27 (NIV)
Removal of the Holy Spirit First
There is a coming end of the age apocalypse and last days as we know it, and the details are laid out for us throughout scripture. We know that the end cannot occur until the Holy Spirit is removed from the world, which will allow the ‘lawless’ or anti-christ one to be revealed. It is believed by scholars that this is when the rapture will occur. As in order for the Holy Spirit to be taken out of the world, the Church will have to be removed as well.
3. Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.5
Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? 6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.
– 2 Thessalonians 2. 3 – 7 (NIV)
The Rapture
The rapture is the removal of the Church from the world to prevent Gods people from having to suffer through the time of great tribulation in the world.
17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
– 1 Thessalonians 4. 17

The Coming Millennium Kingdom (Millennial Viewpoint)
After the Great Tribulation
Revelation chapter 20 gives us the details on the aftermath of the destruction the world or apocalypse will face. An angel will seize the Devil and will bind him in the Abyss for a millennium. Where he can deceive the world no more until the thousand years are over.
Our Lord Jesus will reign over the earth for those thousand years with His saints. This will be a time of peace and restoration for the entire world.
Timeline from Daniel to Millennial Kingdom
70 Weeks of Daniel
In the 9th book of Daniel we are given an entire timeline laid out from the Angel Gabriel to the Prophet Daniel, of all the events that will occur. Beginning with the command to restore Jerusalem (in 445 B.C by Artaxerxes) until the Messiah begins His Millennial reign. Daniel was given 70 weeks for this to occur (70 weeks of years). further it is broken down into segment as seen below:
Daniel 69 Weeks (9.25) | Daniel 69 Weeks (9.25) | (gap) | Daniel 70th Week (9.27) |
7 weeks of years | 62 weeks of years | Time of the Gentiles | 1 week of years |
49 years | 434 years | The present church age | 7 years |
Command to rebuild Jerusalem (9.25) | Messiah ‘cut off’ Jerusalem trampled (9.26) | mystery not revealed to Daniel (Eph 3.4-10) | This time is the great tribulation cut into two 3 1/2 year periods |
Prophetic gap | Rapture | ||
Once the time of the gentiles is fulfilled there will be one more week of the Jewish age | Glorious appearance of Messiah afterwards | ||
start 457 b.c. | end 70 a.d. |
Gap Between the 69th and 70th Week
From the millennial viewpoint, there has to be an explanation for the period of time that is believed to be between the 69th and 70th week. This is known by many as the gap period. Or as pointed out in scripture the ‘cut-off’ period, as we read in Daniel:
“And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself…
– Daniel 9. 26a
Return of a Jewish age
It is explained that by looking at each of the major milestone markers as ages, or covenant periods. The age of the Jews was the old covenant beginning with Moses. Then Jesus brought a new covenant to humanity, marking the age of the church (Hebrews 8. 6-13). However Paul eluded to the idea that the Jewish age was not quite over yet, as seen in
11 I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles. 12 Now if their fall is riches for the world, and their failure riches for the Gentiles, how much more their fullness!
– Roman 11. 11 – 12 (NKJV)
Concerning Israel, the apostle Paul is speaking about a future time when the nation of Israel will be grafted (or rejoined) back in. That they will achieve ‘their fullness’ which will accomplish so much greater good in the world.
Other Examples of Prophetic Gaps
Do we see other examples of gaps in the bible, or in bible prophecy that may help to confirm this idea? All of the scriptures about the messiah coming to the world where not understood by everyone in ancient times to be two different events, separated by a gap. This is why everyone expected Jesus to bring the kingdom while he was ministering on earth (Acts 1. 6).
We are able to now interpret the ancient prophecies as two separate events, that the Messiah would come first as a suffering servant then a conquering king. 1 Peter 1. 10-11 tells us that even the prophets of old tried to determine the times the spirit was indicating to them.
Literal Kingdom and other Prophecies not Fulfilled Yet in the Last Day Prophecy List
One of the points made by millennialists is stating that if you take the bibles statements literally, the prophecies concerning Jesus second coming and restoring all things has not yet occurred, as the end of Daniel 9.24 states. Once the 70 weeks are complete there will be everlasting righteousness and the holy city will finish transgression and have an end put to sin. This would fall in line,as interpreted, with the end of the age, the second coming after sin is removed from the world.
24 “Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.
– Daniel 9. 24 (NKJV)
There are many other examples of prophecies that if taken literally, we have not seen yet, such as the resurrection of all believers.
And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
– Revelation 20. 4
And the prophecy of Christ literally destroying the anti-Christ, or the man of lawlessness, from Daniel 9.26.
8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.
– 1 Thessalonians 2. 8
The Eternal Kingdom of God
After the millennial reign of Christ, the devil will be released from the Abyss. He will be able to attempt to deceive the world one final time and march against Jesus’s kingdom on earth. This will be the final battle. Afterwards the devil and all his follower will be cast into the eternal lake of fire forever.
The Great Judgment
This is when Jesus will sit on his great white throne and will judge all beings. Those who are found in the book of life will be given eternal life and place in God’s kingdom. Those who are not in the lamb’s book of life will go to the lake of fire.
